What is CULTIVA 4.0?

CULTIVA 4.0 A new tool for monitoring the growth and hydric stress of crops, developed by the company GeoTepuy SL, based in Granada, Spain, manages to bring the technology of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems closer, in a simple and understandable way, to agronomists, farmers, public and private organizations and anybody interested in the control of crops in general.

How does it work?

It works from the processed data of the Sentinel 2B satellite images of the European Space Agency (ESA), then rhis information is associated to an area of interest and presented graphically, also may be printed through the generation of reports.

  • Dynamic Spectral Signaturefrom each point where the cursor is located, allowing the user to perform an analysis of the condition of his crop at the selected point.
  • Simple interpretation of the Spectral Signature in relation to:
    • Coloración (Pigmentación). Indicates the predominant color of the surface (vegetation + soil), for the moment of taking the image, which allows the user to contrast this information with the normal evolution of the type of crop and determine possible anomalies, whether they are general or focused.
    • Internal Structure of Leaf. It allows you to know, if the plants' vigor is adequate for the time of evaluation.
    • Moisture content. This index gives information the efficency of irrigation systems, being able to determine where are the excess or deficit at the moment of revision.
  • Historical values (1 year) of the averages of of the Vegetation and Hydric Stress Indexes.
  • Values of the SIGPAC Agricultural System (If located in Spain).


Does it only work on the computer?

The system is presented for Windows and MacOS operating systems, complemented with an Android mobile module. However, all its functionalities are given to be displayed on the desktop computer regarding the use of mobile phone to make recognitions and verifications in the field mainly.

One of the data supplied by CULTIVA 4.0 is Moisture Index. This index allows agricultural producer to know in that place of cultivation that is accumulating higher humidity, allowing to determine the correct use of the irrigation systems, This helps with the sustainability of terrain.
